South Whidbey fire commissioners continue levy lift talks

The commissioners from South Whidbey Fire/EMS will continue to discuss a proposed 15-cent levy lift at their meeting this week.

Fire Chief Rusty Palmer presented the commissioners with the levy increase at its last meeting in February. Liz Loomis, the district’s contracted public affairs specialist, suggested going for the lift in November during the general election. The increase would bump the levy to 76 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value, which means a $200,000 property would pay $152 a year for fire and emergency services on the South End.

Officials from the fire district invited residents to attend and share their concerns at the 5:30 p.m. meeting Thursday, March 15.
