The South Whidbey School Board will review the school district’s six administration contracts Wednesday.
District Superintendent Jo Moccia will begin her second year with South Whidbey next month. She’s up for less than a 2 percent salary increase, to $132,500.
Next year, the school district will be without a transportation and maintenance supervisor. The transportation duties will be assumed by Dan Poolman, formerly the district’s business director, who will become the assistant superintendent for business. The new job and new title come with an almost 6-percent salary increase, to $100,000.
Though Poolman will cover the transportation duties, the district may keep a maintenance supervisor. According to the district’s job description of the assistant superintendent, one of the duties is to “assist in the interview and selection of the maintenance supervisor. Provide orientation and training for this employee.”
The contracts for the schools’ principals and directors — high school principal John Patton, assistant principal/athletic director Scott Mauk, middle school principal Eric Nerison and South Whidbey Academy director David Pfeiffer — are being continued.
The South Whidbey School Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 at the board meeting room at the South Whidbey Primary Campus, located at 5476 S. Maxwelton Road in Langley.
