Langley man accused of stealing dad’s truck

A 21-year-old Langley man is accused of burglarizing the home of his adoptive father and stealing a truck, tires, a meat slicer, ladders and a DVD player, court records state.

Prosecutors charged Travis Loetterle in Island County Superior Court Aug. 29 with residential burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of the prescription drug oxycodone.

Loetterle pleaded not guilty Sept. 10.

The Langley resident reported last month that his truck and other items had been stolen. Following a tip, deputies found the truck parked in front of Loetterle’s home, according to the deputy’s report on the incident.

Loetterle allegedly tried to escape out the back window of the house, but was caught by a deputy.

After his arrest, deputies found a plastic bag with suspected meth in one pocket and a contact lens case with oxycontin inside another pocket, the report alleges.

If convicted of the charges against him, Loetterle could face from a year and ten months to two years and five months in prison under the standard sentencing range.
