High school senior Ackerman set for regional read

Sydney Ackerman, a South Whidbey High School student, won the school’s Poetry Out Loud contest and qualified for the regional reading.

All of the school’s first semester English classes participated in the event before winter break. Caitlin Christensen, a senior, finished in third place, and Sophia Larson-Wickman took second place. The winner from the regional contest advances to the state to compete against six other regions’ poets for a trip to Washington, D.C. for the national contest.
