Reducing its policies by one, the South Whidbey School Board deleted an antiquated fundraising policy and replaced it with an existing one.
At its recent business meeting, the board unanimously voted to delete policy 6110 and replace it with policy 6102. The former policy was limited in its scope and short in word count, but allowed the school district to solicit donations which supported education programs. The “new” policy — adopted in March 2007 — elaborates on the district’s fundraising activities, such as soliciting gifts, interlocal agreements and operating revenue generating enterprises. It does not, however, govern the fundraising of programs such as Parent Teacher Associations, Kiwanis or Associated Student Body.
