LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Warnings diminish scenic ferry rides

Editor,
Tourists on Washington State’s ferries will be forgiven for thinking that by boarding the boats they have put themselves in grave danger. How else to interpret the need for multiple large screens playing endless videos showing how to survive various disasters at sea?
Regular riders know the boats are safe and simply mourn the loss of their formerly serene oasis as they rode through spectacular scenery unmarred by visual assault. What a shame that the thousands of dollars spent on this unfortunate project weren’t put to better use maintaining an aging system and keeping staffing levels adequate to ensure the delivery of promised service.
