LETTER TO THE EDITOR | McDowell’s letter was disappointing

Editor,

Saturday, I was sorry to see the letter from former hard working county commissioner Mac McDowell. I have always respected his work for Island County.

In his letter he states what he believes are Karla Jacks’ positions on Outlying Field and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Interestingly just Friday, I had several neighbors state the same concerns. Being a strong supporter of the base and OLF, I called her campaign and talked to her campaign manager, who stated Karla Jacks’ support for OLF and the base then directed me to her web site (jacksforcommissioner.org), which states the following:

“I will not pressure the Navy to change its operations or flight training practices. I support NAS Whidbey.”

Mac McDowell should have done the responsible thing and checked Karla Jacks position papers on her website and not been a political hitman for his party, repeating lies and rumor mongering.

Shameful.

I will be voting for Karla Jacks.
