Six Falcons’ boys tennis seasons are over after being ousted from the bi-district tournament.
South Whidbey sent a pair of singles players and two doubles teams to the tournament and finished tied for fourth place in team points with the Bear Creek School.
Seniors Charley Stelling and Jonathon Peterson reached the third round after winning their first match 6-1, 6-2 against Seattle Academy’s Augie Bartlett and Robert Winton. Stelling and Peterson fell to University Prep’s Christian Keanui and Jasen Mansfield 6-4, 6-3.
The Falcons fought off elimination with another victory over a Seattle Academy team, this time over Richard Khang and Aidan Wood, 6-4, 6-0.
Elimination came at the hands of the tournament’s top-ranked doubles duo from Seattle Academy, Connor Rice and Charlie Phelps 6-1, 6-3.
South Whidbey’s second doubles team, Hank Papritz and Jacob Nelson, were bounced in the third match after defeating Bush School’s Brennan Commons and Jack Agostini 6-1, 6-4. But Papritz and Nelson were quickly dropped by Rice and Phelps in their next match 6-0, 6-1. The Falcon duo fought University Prep’s Hyunane Kim and Josh Wah-Blumberg but fell 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
In singles, seniors Campbell Albertsen and Trent Fallon represented South Whidbey. Fallon was eliminated after the first match against Bear Creek’s Adam Worley 6-1, 6-1. Albertsen won his first match against Bush School’s Noah Medina 6-3, 6-4. Albersten was swept to the consolation bracket by Jack Katzman 6-0, 6-0.
