Glen William Davis: Aug. 18, 1940 – Sept. 26, 2018

Glen William Davis, the second son of Melvin J. Davis and Irene Carter Davis, was born on Aug. 18, 1940, in Clebit, Okla. Glen went to his heavenly home on Sept. 26, succumbing at home in Clinton after struggling with congestive heart disease.
The family moved to Eugene, Ore., when Glen was 6 years old and he attended Eugene schools. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force after serving four years. He married MaryAnn Lehmann on Jan. 30, 1966, and they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Glen earned his associate degree on the GI bill while working at the Shell plant in Eugene. He transferred to Portland, Ore., with Shell as a dispatcher. After 10 years with Shell and instead of being transferred to California, decided to become self-employed.
He purchased Whidbey Oil Sales and the Shell gas station from Con and Ardelle Orr on beautiful Whidbey Island and began an adventure of heating oil delivery, full-serve gas station and garage, furnace repair and installation and U-Haul rentals.
He sold his business to his son-in-law, Sundown Bova.Glen continued in furnace repair and installation until retirement, truly enjoying serving his customers.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Jim and Susan’s partner Brad Ambrose. He is survived by his brother Bob (Cindy) of Cottage Grove, Ore. Glen is also survived by his wife MaryAnn of the family home and three children: Lisa Bova (Sundown), Clinton; Susan Sanders, Clinton; and Nathan (Chandy), Bothell, Wash. Glen was very proud of his grandchildren, Hunter Joseph Bova, Ryder Wayne Ambrose and Andrew Glen Davis.
Glen was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, serving in various positions. He liked the outdoors, fishing in Canada, hunting in Montana, bowling, golfing and cooking.
A memorial service for Glen will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Clinton, on Oct. 6 at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Mikkel Hustad. Memorials can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or Helping Hand of South Whidbey for winter heating assistance in Glen’s honor.
