Letter: Trump has violated oath of office, broken the law

Published 1:30 am Friday, June 21, 2019

Editor,

People. Where is your outrage?

A presidential poser – the former reality TV show host, a known bully, liar and lawbreaker — is incompetent. He is clearly unfit to sit in the esteemed White House. And now he says he would take information, he would listen to dirt obtained by foreign nationals and use it against his political opponents in 2020 presidential election.

What kind of man is this? What kind of arrogant and uninformed elected official is this? The behavior he trumpets is against the law and dangerous. Why?

Because when foreign nationals give something to an American political candidate, they surely want something in return. A candidate would be beholden to, for example, Russia, China or North Korea, and that fact interferes in our government and is unlawful.

Yet Donald J. Trump asserts in front of television cameras and repeated tweets his utter distain for the law. Behaving more like a nasty dictator than a Constitutionally-elected president, he and his Republican enablers, including the vice president, give the finger to everything for which the American Constitution stands.

Trump repeatedly and egregiously violates his oath of office. I hope my Whidbey Island friends and neighbors will join me in calling for his resignation, now.

Short of that: impeachment.
