South Whidbey Jazz Band wins top honors

The South Whidbey High School Jazz Band had the privilege of winning top honors recently.

At a music festival at the University of Idaho over this past weekend, the band was one of five to be named a senior instrumental winner, competing with several other bands of its size. Out of the five named, Edmonds won the highest honor as the sweepstakes winner.

More than 3,600 students from 123 elementary, middle and high schools attended the event and competed.

South Whidbey’s band is directed by Chris Harshman and has 20 members.
