Letter: State ferry workers need to reflect to be visible

Editor,
Having just boarded the ferry 5:30 am when it is still dark, I wondered why the WSF workers’ reflector jackets didn’t shine—
So that we would be certain to avoid them!
Then it occurred to me.
The reflectors only work when light is directed on them. Since we turn off our lights when we board the ferry and exit the ferry, the reflectors don’t illuminate because our lights are turned off!
Isn’t it time we look into reflectors that reflect even when light isn’t shined on them in order to keep our Washington state ferry workers as safe as possible as they direct our cars?
