Blessing of Animals set for Oct. 10

St. Augustines-in-the-Woods Episcopal Church will hold a special ceremony for the four-legged.

In celebration of St. Francis of Assisi — the patron saint of animals — the church will host a Blessing of the Animals at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10. Pets, and also pictures of pets, can be brought forward for a blessing.

The ceremony will happen outside of the church. COVID-19 precautions require masks for people and social distancing. The church is asking people to consider donating a can or bag of pet food for distribution to needy animals.

St. Augustine-in-the-Woods is located at 5217 South Honeymoon Bay Road in Freeland.
