On New Year’s Day, 128 Whidbey residents had a frigid start to 2022 when they ran into the icy waters at Double Bluff Beach for South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District’s Polar Bear Dive. The freezing waters were nothing short of shocking to participants, many of whom scrambled out of the sea after just a couple seconds.
