Letter: Letter writer should read sewer studies

Published 1:30 am Saturday, February 28, 2026

Editor,

With regard to Dean Enel’s “Opinion” piece in the Record of Feb 7, and his rejoinder in the letters column of Feb 21st:

John Brunke and Lou Malzone, who were commissioners of the Freeland Water and Sewer District, or FWSD, spent almost three years studying how sewers might serve Freeland.

Apparently, Mr. Enel has read neither Brunke’s 2018 six-page summary of that study’s results, nor the FWSD Board’s resolution 2019-05-001, which then formally ended the sewer project in accordance with that engineering study. Were Mr. Enel to acquaint himself with those documents, I suspect he might come to see Freeland’s sewer problems in a far different light.

(I make that suggestion, not as a current commissioner of the FWSD, but only as a concerned citizen who lives in Freeland.)
