LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Palin represents political reform

Published 2:44 pm Thursday, October 2, 2008

To the editor:

Let’s say you enjoyed your time spent reading your paper this morning about all the goings on during this time of political feeding of media fodder.

Let’s say you drank in all the creamy sweet expressions of the columnists with your coffee providing your intellectual palate with numbing delight as they fed your prideful prejudices keeping you as infantile as possible within the concepts of demons and enemies. Political ying and yang? Not hardly. Social us and them? Why of course. It seems that the only reason anyone would be motivated to read the newspaper these days would be to feel better about his or her own arrogant view.

I guess when you think there must be a better way and you want change but are too afraid or too lazy to change yourself (which, by the way, is the only way free individuals can change) you look for hope in someone else – a very dangerous state of mind indeed when the object of that change is a person with political power! As far as America is concerned, the social experiment that began with the understanding of man’s depravity expressed in the checks and balances in the branches of government, and personal humility based on the sincere faith in a Creator expressed in the need of law respecting individual freedom, that experiment has worked out pretty well. Not until we denied the reality of God and declared “God is dead,” and we as a people became selfish, being stirred up with political promises demanding “our share” and lazy looking for “our entitlements” did the freedoms we enjoy begin to bite us.

The boost Sarah Palin has provided this country is not a hope in her, which is demonstrated in a lower polling of acceptance being president than her opponent Mr. Biden, but in the hope in her spirit of reforming the power brokers that have spoiled this free system through taking advantage of their position rather than respecting it and all those around them while “serving” within their public trust.

Free people need examples of integrity from their leaders expressed in the media rather than hearing reports of their leaders chasing their own selfish depravity all the time. This is indeed why the approval ratings are so low with our government officials. And the media loves to expose their depravity – true or not!

And the approval rating of Sarah Palin within her sphere of influence? Eighty percent! You think people want just a “change”?

Our country’s freedom doesn’t need change – it needs reform!
