The League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island will hold two sets of forums for the November election.
One set will be for candidates for state and county offices, the other will be for the four most controversial ballot measures. Two candidate forums are planned, one on North Whidbey, the other on the South End.
The first candidate forum will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge, located at 155 N.E. Ernst St. The second candidate forum will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island, located at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland.
Both ballot measure forums — about I-1185 tax and fee increases by the state I-1240 public charter schools, Referendum 74 marriage equality and I-502 marijuana legalization — will be Sunday, Oct. 7. The first forum will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Universalist Congregation in Freeland, and the second will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge.
Congressional District 2 candidates Rep. Rick Larsen and Dan Mathews will participate. They will not be at the Oct. 11 forum in Freeland.
