South Whidbey volleyball bounces back at Granite Falls

Behind Falcon senior Abby Hodson’s 21 kills, South Whidbey bounced back from a first-set loss at Granite Falls on Thursday to win in four sets.
The Tigers took the match lead after winning the first set 25-20. South Whidbey rallied and cruised in the second and third sets, winning 25-14 and 25-12.
The Falcons held on in the fourth set, 25-21. Anne Madsen, a Falcon senior, chipped in 10 kills and 17 digs, followed by junior libero Sara Bryant’s 15 digs and five kills. Megan Drake, a sophomore, recorded seven kills and three blocks for South Whidbey (4-5 Cascade Conference, 5-5 overall).
Granite Falls (3-6 Cascade Conference, 4-6 overall) was led by Kailey Larsen’s eight kills.
Victory came on the heels of a 3-0 sweep by Cedar Park Christian, the Cascade Conference standings leaders.
South Whidbey faces a challenging week ahead. The Falcons host the third-place Archbishop Murphy Wildcats on Tuesday then travel to take on second-place King’s on Thursday.
