To the editor:

You recently published an article about an unfortunate situation at the Maple Ridge Assisted Living facility in Freeland. An unscrupulous employee was stealing from several of the unsuspecting residents.

Through very diligent efforts of the administration at Maple Ridge and Deputy Rick Felici of the Island County Sheriff’s Office, this single person was caught and convicted.

Though you would never want a situation like this to occur, we would like to commend the administration and staff at Maple Ridge for the way in which the situation was handled. The compassion and professionalism of their investigation, along with their personal interactions with the residents, clearly showed us how much they truly care about each and every person living there. Our sincere thanks go to everyone involved helping to keep Maple Ridge the fun, safe and secure home it is for our mother and so many other of our South Whidbey senior residents.
