Basketball: South Whidbey girls beat Coupeville in OT

The South Whidbey girls basketball team beat cross-island rival Coupeville 54-48 in overtime Tuesday at home. It was the Falcon's first win of the season; they are now 1-6 in league standings and 1-12 overall, while the Wolves are 4-5 and 9-6. Falcon Ashlinn Prosch made a driving layup to tie the score at the end of regulation at 41 each and teammate Courtney Linehan scored seven of her 17 points in overtime.

It was the Falcon’s first win of the season; they are now 1-6 in league standings and 1-12 overall, while the Wolves are 4-5 and 9-6.

Falcon Ashlinn Prosch made a driving layup to tie the score at the end of regulation at 41 each and teammate Courtney Linehan scored seven of her 17 points in overtime.

Linehan also had 14 rebounds to lead South Whidbey to the Cascade Conference win.

Cayla Calderwood had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Falcons. Alannah Alber had 11 points and Prosch added 10.

Coupeville’s top two scorers — Megan Smith (20 points) and Ashley Manker (10) — fouled out in overtime.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, South Whidbey hosts the Lakewood Cougars.
