Dorothy “Dodie” Jodrey passed away Jan. 6, 2008.
She was born May 10, 1930 in Los Angeles, Calif. She leaves behind a husband, Don, of 35 years; daughter Sandy Hayman, daughter Debbie Norman and son-in-law John Cramer; brother Dick Gilbert and his wife, Sharon; brother Jim Gilbert and his wife, Ruth; and sister Gerry Blackburn and her husband Jay. Two sisters preceded her in death; Fran Gilbert and Jackie Allia.
Dodie and her husband Don lived in California for 16 years before coming to Whidbey Island to retire.
She would like to be remembered for her love of people and animals and her humor. She was an avid reader of books.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no services, but at a later date there will be a family memorial in California where most of her relatives live.
A favorite poem of her’s went something like this:
God looked down upon this earth
And saw your tired face
He knew that you were in pain
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered “Peace be thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone, so part
Of us went with you
The day God called you home.
