Published April 11, 2007

Curtis Noyce Martin passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2007, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family.

Curt was born on May 26, 1930 at home in Alderwood Manor, becoming the first of two children born to Ethel and Earl Martin. He grew up, and attended school in Alderwood Manor graduating from Edmonds High School in 1948. He joined the Navy soon thereafter and served in the Korean Conflict for two years.

Upon his return home, he married and started his own family, growing to three daughters and a son. He built his parent’s business from the small company of Martin Fuel to what many remember as C. Martin Trucking, a successful trucking and site-development business. Being an active community leader, he served on the boards for Edmonds School District, Alderwood Youth Club and as a commissioner for the Alderwood Water District. More intimately, he enjoyed skiing, both water and snow and joined the ski patrol. He later instructed amputee skiers and traveled from ski area to ski area with family and friends.

After his retirement in 1991, he and his wife began their travels around the world, making lifelong friends at every stop. His boating outings increased after retirement and grew to annual summer trips to Alaska in the “Sea Martin.” Boating, fishing and crabbing became everyday words in the Martin household.

Curt leaves behind many dear friends and his family, Beverley Martin, his wife of 46 years; sister Carol Grant; daughters Vicki Martin, Linda Thompson, Pamela Martin and grandchildren, Katie and Kalen Hanna, Beverly and Candi Rosendahl and Matthew Thompson. He was preceded in death by his son Ken Martin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 in the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.

Memorial donations may be made to Whidbey Island General Hospital Foundation or Hospice, Holmes Harbor Rod & Gun Club or your favorite charity of choice.
