Joanne Lenore Marston Demaray

March 5, 1932 – September 29, 2016

Joanne Lenore Marston Demaray died on September 29, 2016 in Edmonds, Washington. She was born in Seattle at Swedish Hospital to Evelyn Ruth Marston (Edwards) and Wilfred Frank (Bill) Marston. She was raised in the Queen Anne-Seattle Pacific community with her loving siblings Joyce E. Marston (Enright) and Wilfred G. (Bill) Marston. She graduated from Queen Anne High School, attended Seattle Pacific College and graduated from Sacramento State University. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Wendell A. Demaray, her loving sister Joyce Enright, her four children, Bryan W. Demaray (Robin) of Helena, Montana, Mark M. Demaray (Jill) of Edmonds, Washington, Kevin D. Demaray (Jane) of Helena, Montana, and Joyce D. Cameron (Rob) of Rancho Santa Fe, California, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of loving friends.

Joanne blessed all she came to know with her humor and love of life. She taught her children to snow ski and was a ski instructor for many years. She enjoyed her second home in Sun Valley, Idaho where she made more than 50 years of memories with her family, friends and neighbors. She traveled extensively and enjoyed boating in the San Juans and Canadian Gulf Islands, found delight in the castles of Europe and in many cities throughout the US. She was a talented interior designer who made her homes and the homes of her family and friends places of joy and comfort. She was a talented and prolific painter who donated many of her beautiful works of art to Young Life. She wrote a children’s book and was the quintessential doting grandmother who cherished and spoiled all of her grandchildren with precise and equally measured love and attention. She had an exceptionally strong spirit and love of life and loved and served her God to the fullest, with grace and dignity for all of her days. She truly left this earth a better place for all of those who were blessed to know and love her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Young Life Malibu Club or its No Camper Left on the Dock scholarship fund.
