Alice Harper

Alice Harper, who taught for 27 years in the Middletown, Ohio schools at Lincoln Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High, the old high school and Freshman High School, died two days after her 94th birthday of pancreatic cancer.

Alice is remembered for her work at Middletown Freshman High School, where she taught French and was responsible for the Freshman Language Tours to Europe and Mexico.

She retired from teaching in 1982 and enjoyed traveling, mostly to Europe, but also to Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand, as well as other areas. She also loved gardening and writing.

In 1996, Mrs. Harper moved to Whidbey Island to be nearer to her children.

She is survived by her son William Harper (wife Eileen), also of Whidbey Island, and her daughter Suzanne Wells (husband Gary), who resides in Santa Maria, Calif. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Erin and William IV Harper and Elizabeth Luis, and two great-grandchildren, River and Rosewyn Luis. Three great-nephews and their families reside in Indianapolis, Ind. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill, sister Marguerite in August of this year, and her niece Mary Ann in October of this year.
