Published January 12, 2009
June Marie Haggen was born in Bellingham on June 5, 1922 and passed away on Jan. 12, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
June moved to Seattle in the early 1930s. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1940. She married twice and survived both marriages.
In 1973, June moved to her beloved cabin in the Baby Island community on Whidbey Island. That is where she was happiest walking the beaches, tending her garden, feeding the birds, occasionally providing in-home caregiving and enjoying her friends and the uniqueness of the island.
She is survived by her daughter Robbin D. Murphy, son Robert M. Erickson, grandson Brian Murphy and his wife Amanda, and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Karissa.
June is missed but is at peace…at last.
No formal services are planned. Remembrances can be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
