Published April 6, 2007

Dorothy R. Anderson, 94, died April 6, 2007 at the home of her son, after a year’s battle with poor health.

She was known for her figure skating, and won a silver and a bronze, in the Northwest Figure Skating Championships. Her other passion (beside Pomeranians) was gardening. Strangers would stop to take pictures of her yard in North Seattle.

Dorothy moved to Whidbey Island in 1967, where she so enjoyed her waterfront home on Bercot Road, and pinochle with the gals.

She is survived by her son, Don Anderson and Muriel; foster daughter, Terry Lou Miller and Jerry; grandchildren, Clay Anderson and Candy and Melissa Newman and Paul; great-grandchildren, Carrie and Chad Anderson, Micah and Montana Johnson and Hunter Newman; three sisters, Lyla Martin, Irene Childe and Sylvia Smith. Preceding Dorothy in death were four siblings, Nora, Ralph, Harold and Leif Schillios.

God and the Home Health & Hospice awesome and faithful staff, made it possible for Dorothy and her caregivers to have a year of joy and value.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clinton. Remembrances may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Visser Funeral Home, Langley.
