Nancy K. Kurk

Nancy K. Kurk, born June 26, 1939, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 23, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. She was 66.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Bill Kurk of Clinton; stepdaughters Kathy (Chuck) Burton, Clinton, Marie (Greg) Grady, Clinton; grandchildren Danielle and Michelle Burton, and Hannah and Mitchell Grady; brother Lanny (Charlotte) Henning of Fargo, N.D., and two sisters, Sharly Benson of Littleton, Colo., and Judy Aagessen of Willmar, Minn., along with many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was raised in Fargo, N.D. and graduated from Shanley High School in 1957. She then attended colleges in New Mexico and Minnesota, earning a master’s degree in physical education and health.
She taught middle school in Idaho and Minnesota, spending many years teaching middle school in Detroit Lakes, Minn., where she had many friends and relatives nearby.
At her 25th high school reunion in 1982, she was reacquainted with her future husband, Bill.They were married in Everett in December.
After moving to Whidbey Island, she taught school for a short time before becoming employed on the Washington State Ferries as an ordinary seaman. She worked on the Clinton/Mukilteo route for many years.
She enjoyed living on Whidbey Island and liked to play scratch and Lotto tickets, Bingo, and going to Longacres and Reno. She also enjoyed fishing, cooking and was an avid reader.
She will be missed by her family and friends. A private family service will be held at a future date.
