Walter H. Toole was born in New York City, N.Y. and died Oct. 7, 2011 in Freeland.
Walter was a World War II veteran, having served in the 96th Infantry. He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, Meritorious Unit Citation and Presidential Citation and was a member of the 96th Division Deadeye Association.
Walter married and lived in Washington, D.C. until retiring and moving to the West Coast and then to Whidbey Island.
He was a generous contributor to many charities and humanitarian causes throughout his life and is sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
