David Charles Schulz

David Charles Schulz passed away on Oct. 26, 2006, on Whidbey Island.

David was born on Dec. 27, 1944, in Seattle, son of Harry and Loraine (Carlson) Schulz.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Seattle, served in the Army Reserves, and attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg, where he met Sandra Nasman, and they married in 1968. In later years, David still referred to his wedding day as the happiest day of his life.

Together they raised their three children in Bothell. David was a devoted family man and said that his day began when he came home from work to be with his family.

He worked in the transportation industry and spent many years at Taylor-Edwards Warehouse and Transfer. As a manager, he treated employees as part of his extended family, showing them respect, compassion and his trust.

David’s happiest days were spent with his family at Lake Chelan, cheering his children on at their sporting events and later spending time with his grandchildren.

David never met a stranger. He had many friends and was always there to tend to their needs. He had a wonderful sense of humor and often reminisced about his football glory days. Even with his deteriorating health, he never complained and used his sense of humor to put others at ease.

David was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and a friend who will always be embedded in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Loraine and Harry Schulz. He is survived by Sandra Schulz; daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Derek Hayes; sons, Jeffrey Schulz and Jay Schulz; grandchildren, Samuel Heikell, Matthew Holmberg, Kyle Hayes and Dominic Hayes; brothers, Roy Schulz and Gordon Schulz; sister, Carol Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Langley.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
