The long-awaited assisted living facility in Freeland should be set to open in June, developers of the project said.
Construction on the project began early this fall. The Maple Ridge Assisted Living Community will be ready for occupation early next summer.
The facility is being built adjacent to the senior housing development, the Village at Maple Ridge in Freeland.
The development of the facility is good news for residents of the village, many of whom bought their condos based on the availability of the assisted care facility.
“This senior community will feature an array of services and amenities to enhance the lives of its residents,†said Heather Marshall, spokeswoman for the company developing the project.
The 75-unit building is being developed by Mountain West Retirement Corporation of Oregon.
Maple Ridge will include assisted living apartments and is managed by Mountain West Retirement, a company specializing in the management and operation of 27 senior living communities.
Maple Ridge will have six assisted living studios and 69 one-bedroom apartment-style homes.
The one-bedroom units will vary in size from 473 to 573 square feet. The studio apartments are 407 square feet. Monthly rents will average roughly $2,500. The building will include three stories above the main floor and will be accessible by an elevator.
“Included in the cost will be meals, routine health monitoring and weekly housekeeping,†Marshall said.
Each apartment is equipped with telephone and cable TV outlets, individual climate control with air conditioning, a kitchenette and a private bathroom with a barrier-free shower.
All apartments in the community will also be equipped with a call system that residents can use to notify staff of an emergency, or to request assistance.
Some apartments in the three-story structure will be plumbed for a washer and dryer. Public laundry facilities will be available on each floor.
“Assisted living residents will have the option of a pendant enabling them to contact staff when they are away from their apartments.†Marshall said.
There will be regularly scheduled activities for residents, plus a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation areas, and meals planned by a registered dietician.
“The facility will be staffed with experienced professionals, and will provide exceptional care tailored to meet the individual needs of each resident,†Marshall said.
