South Whidbey splits 2 matches / Tennis

The South Whidbey High School tennis team split a pair of 3-2 matches over the weekend, getting a win in the one that counted.

The Falcons won at King’s Friday, April 20, to remain unbeaten in Cascade Conference play.

Visiting University Prep edged South Whidbey in a non-league match Saturday, handing the Falcons their first loss of the season.

South Whidbey (3-0, 6-1) goes to Coupeville at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, for a non-league match.

Singles: 1, Robynn Maciel lost 6-0, 6-3; 2, Ally Lynch lost 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles: 1, Mary Zisette/Alison Papritz won 7-6(7-2), 6-1; Farris Jokinen/Ainsley Nelson won 6-2, 6-2; Ashley Ricketts/McKenna Kelley won 6-2, 6-2.

University Prep 3, South Whidbey 2

Singles: 1, Jokinen lost 6-4, 6-4; 2, Ricketts lost 6-0, 2-6, 6-4.

Doubles: 1, Zisette/Papritz won 6-4, 6-3; 2, Maciel/Nelson lost 6-1, 6-4; 3, Lynch/Kelley won 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
