Ace Hardware in Freeland was inundated with water Tuesday afternoon after a pipe in the back room burst, according to South Whidbey Fire/EMS.

Jon Gabelein, a public information officer for the fire district, said the entire store floor was covered in two to three inches of water. Firefighters — who fought water in this case — squeegeed the water into the parking lot drains.

According to the Freeland Ace Hardware Facebook page, the store was closed Tuesday, Wednesday and part of Thursday.

The store did not return a request for comment by press time.
