End the gravy train in Langley | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:
After investigating the upsides and downsides of Langley’s vote on annexation to Sno-Isle Libraries, I strongly urge a “yes” vote on this issue. Langley has been getting a reduced-price deal with Sno-Isle Libraries for years, but the gravy train is about to end — and it could be a train wreck.
The city of Langley’s budget woes are requiring drastic budget cuts. The mayor has indicated that, like many other municipalities, Langley is looking at funding only “critical services,” and our library may not make the cut. That would result in not only closing of the Langley Library, but also the inability of Langley residents to use other Sno-Isle branches.
Please, let the citizens of Langley pay the same rate for library service as everyone else in Island County, and ensure stable, long-term services.
