Letter: Families who adopt are honored this month

Editor,

‘Tis the season for giving thanks. That is why the month of November is chosen to recognize the adoptive parents and families who grace our communities.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month. While all adoptions are significant, the particular focus for this month is on those who are choosing to adopt children from the foster care system.

Communities across the nation are joining to celebrate the hope and the happiness that lies ahead for children and their forever families. Island County is no different. The Board of Commissioners has proclaimed Nov. 20 as National Adoption Day in Island County, a day for all citizens to join with children and their forever families to celebrate the promise of life renewed.

Making the choice to adopt a child is a response to one of life’s highest callings. To Island County parents who are responding to this calling, your community stands tall in your honor.
