Letter: Hannold is not a moderate candidate

Editor,

In the Dec. 29 article about the Republican candidates for county commissioner, the reporter writes that Rick Hannold claims to be a moderate and that “his record seems to support that assessment.” Really?

Perhaps it should be left up to readers, not the reporter, to judge whether or not a candidate’s positions are “moderate.”

And given that Rick Hannold says he is “skeptical” about climate change — despite all the evidence around him, despite the overwhelming international scientific consensus, despite over 200 nations expressing alarm that the global warming impacts of human activity are already being felt in every region of the world, despite the fact that more than 60% of Americans feel that it is extremely or very important for government to address climate change — well, no, his positions are most definitely not moderate.
