Editor,

Readiness To Learn Foundation would like to thank everyone who supported our recent Box Lunch fundraiser.

Over 20 volunteers, organization board members and staff helped to once again bring this beloved — and tasty — project to South Whidbey. Our community bought close to 500 lunches this year! Big thanks to all who purchased a lunch to enjoy, or chose our “no-calorie lunch” option and donated funds.

Foundation board members and staff would like to extend special appreciation to the South Whidbey Eagles, for offering their space for cooking and assembly, to Payless Foods for donating paper lunch bags, the South Whidbey Record for their article about Box Lunch and how it assists Readiness To Learn Foundation programs, our small but mighty sales force who connected with businesses and schools for lunch orders, and all of the men and women who volunteered with the preparation of lunch bags, creating spreadsheets, shopping, cooking turkeys, spreading cream cheese, chopping vegetables, bedecking lunch bags with festive ribbon, driving lunches to their destination, and all of the many other tasks accomplished successfully along the way.

Proceeds from Box Lunch go directly to serve local children through Readiness To Learn Foundation programs, including our resource and referral services, support groups, classes and outreach events.

Sincerely,

JOANIE SMITH
