LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Keep religion separated

To the editor:

Let us give thanks that the Island County commissioners made the wise choice to leave prayer to the discretion of each individual on the board and in the audience. The separation of church and state in the U.S. has prevented some of the excesses we see in the Middle East and elsewhere when religion merges with the affairs of state.
