Letter: With her speech, queen exemplified true class

Editor,

God save the Queen.

As a British ex pat now living in Washington state, the first state to be struck by the deadly coronavirus, it was with great pride that I watched HM Queen Elizabeth II address the nation recently. That respect for the Queen was not only felt by Britain, but by many Americans, who expressed their admiration for her strength and dignity as well as her ability to resonate with her subjects at this stressful time.

Whatever one’s opinion of the monarchy, Britain is fortunate to have this stalwart pillar of society. After all, look what we have here? A narcissistic, self-serving president who has withheld federal funding for life-saving testing and personal protective equipment as he has only one thought in mind — the dollar. But, one thing he cannot buy is class.

God save the Queen.
