Petition needs your support | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

It seems to me that one of the basic rights in a democratic society is the freedom of choice in relation to what we eat. Hence, the listing of ingredients on packaged food to inform that choice. The fact that big business and our government have conspired to thwart the identification of genetically modified organism (GMO) ingredients is a violation of all the people’s rights, both pro and con GMO.

Without labeling, some GMO choices can be exercised as follows: GMOs can be avoided by eating strictly organic food. For those who want to maximize their GMO intact, they can rest assured that any non-organic soy or corn products or ingredients (including theater popcorn) are likely GMO, as are most non-organic eggs, chicken and beef having been raised on GMO corn and soy feed.

A legal petition has been filled with the FDA to require labeling of GMO/genetically engineered foods. Please go to Justlabelit.org and voice your support for this petition.
