Retired, current, young Marines team up for fundraiser | KUDOS

Despite some rainy weather, members of the Maj. Megan McClung Marine Corps League Detachment 1210 held a successful Toys for Tots fundraiser at the Clinton and Mukilteo Ferry Docks on Saturday and Sunday.

Tom Keltner, junior vice commandant of the detachment and a retired Marine, said $7,000 worth of toys was donated. Aiding in the fundraising effort were 10 members of the Seattle Young Marines and current Marine Sergeant C.J. Brown.

“It was a very successful campaign,” Keltner said. “The public was very generous and in awe of the Marines from 10 to 70 years of age.”

The toys will go toward the detachment’s annual island-wide Toys for Toys Program which delivers heaps of toys to families struggling with financial troubles.

Members of Detachment 1210 who were in attendance at the Clinton Ferry Dock included Bob Gabelein, Don Nilson, Tom Bond, Todd Martin, Ricardo Reyes and Jon Vermillion. At the Mukilteo Ferry Dock were Ed Donery, Dennis Phillips and Keltner.
