Island golf club helps you beat inflation while beating your best score!

Whidbey Golf Club’s membership drive starts summer off right with reduced rates

Hitting the links for a leisurely round of golf before hitting the clubhouse for a round of cool drinks is a great way to spend a summer day.

However, even if practise has your score decreasing, it seems the cost of other things you enjoy is increasing!

“We wanted to do something to help people beat the recent inflation we’re all experiencing, by bringing it back to the basics of what the club was originally intended to be,” says Arik Dahlen, General Manager of Whidbey Golf Club.

Established in 1961, and located in the “rain shadow” of the Olympic Mountains, Whidbey Golf Club is a semi-private, member-owned course, where anyone has an opportunity to become a shareholder member.

“We decided that we wanted to make a reset of sorts, by introducing a reduced monthly rate for new members until 2024,” Dahlen says.

Until Dec. 31, 2023, Whidbey Golf Club’s promotional rate will be $259 per month – reduced from $345 per month.

“Even at $345 a month it was already one of the most affordable equity memberships you’ll find anywhere in the area,” Dahlen says. “The $259 reduced rate is not limited to weekday or seasonal play, meaning you’ll pay less and get more!”

Established in 1961, Whidbey Golf Club is a semi private, family oriented club, set amidst a quiet, lake and tree lined glen of Oak Harbor.

The 2023 Membership Drive Promotional Rate includes golf, range and practice facilities, charging and clubhouse privileges, access to reciprocal courses and discounts in the pro shop and on event entries. A spouse add-on is $60, and child add-ons are $20. A $250 application fee, and a minimum $50 per month on food is required.

Following the thrills of playing a top-notch course at this promotional rate, you can take time to relax and unwind in the Fairway Grill, available to members and their guests. The semi-private restaurant/bar offers a great menu that includes a Friday Member Dinner featuring mouth-watering items like Dover sole, roasted garlic duck and prime rib.

“We’re hoping the membership drive is successful enough that in 2024 we can keep one monthly rate of around $259 for everything, across the board,” Dahlen says. “And the $250 application fee will be applied to a stock share purchase in January 2024, when you convert to a share-holding member.”
