5th Army to return to Italian battlefields

A reunion tour in June to World War II battlefields in Italy is planned for veterans of the U.S. Fifth Army.

“A reunion tour to World War II battlefields in Italy is planned for veterans of the U.S. Fifth Army. Set for June 2001, the tour will revisit sites where battles were fought in 1943, 1944 and 1945. The itinerary includes Anzio beachhead, the American Military Cemetery at Nettuno, the Monastery at Cassio, Bologna, Venice and Trieste. Those who served in the following divisions are encouraged to attend: 1st Armored, 3rd, 34th, 36th, 45, 82nd Airborne, 85th, 88th, 91st, 92nd Rangers and all support groups.
