Blood drive next week in Langley

South Whidbey residents will have a chance to give blood at a pop-up donation site next week.

Bloodworks Northwest will be hosting a blood drive at the South Whidbey Community Center in Langley on Nov. 3, 4 and 6.

Appointments must be made online at https://dslnk.co/SWhidbeySchoolDistrict or by calling 1-800-398-7888 and using sponsor code 593B.

No walk-ins are accepted at this time. Guests and people under the age of 16 aren’t allowed either.

Blood donation is considered an essential activity and helps keep the blood supply stable.

The pop-up donation sites are adhering to social distancing guidelines.

People should not give blood if they have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or if they have been near someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19 during the past 28 days, according to the Bloodworks Northwest website.

But if someone has recovered from the virus and it’s been more than 28 days, they may be eligible to donate convalescent plasma, which can be tested for antibodies and used for the treatment of a critically ill COVID-19 patient.
