No injuries occurred when a motorboat lost power near Fort Ebey State Park last weekend.

North Whidbey Fire and Rescue and Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue responded to the call around 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10.

Ed Hartin, the fire chief for the latter department, said the boat was reported to be in distress off West Beach. It ended up beached on shore near the state park.

The occupants on board notified the Coast Guard. It was ultimately the fire departments that responded.

The boat’s occupants were able to safely evacuate. The boat remained on shore until the next day, when it was removed by a tow company.
