Navy Seaman Travis R. Kenworthy, son of Lynda B. Kenworthy of Oak Harbor and Shawn R. Kenworthy of Clinton, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Kenworthy completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, firefighting, first aid, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Kenworthy is a 2009 graduate of South Whidbey High School in Langley.
