A collision on Highway 525 at the intersection of Cultus Bay Road closed down the southbound lane for about 45 minutes on Sunday afternoon.
The wreck occurred at 3:20 p.m. when a silver Ford Ranger driven by Clinton resident John Meredith, 82, ran a red light heading southbound on Highway 525 and collided with a gold Honda Accord driven by Langley resident Jaci Adams, 58. Island County Deputy Brent Durley said Adams was legally turning left onto northbound Highway 525 from Cultus Bay Road. Adams sustained minor injuries, complaining of neck and shoulder pain, and Meredith wasn’t hurt, said Washington State Patrol Public Information Office Mark Francis. Adams needed assistance getting out of her vehicle as her driver’s side door didn’t function following the wreck. A stretcher was brought out as a precaution and she was taken to WhidbeyHealth Medical Center.
No alcohol usage was suspected in the wreck.
