A new Freeland home is on the horizon.

Habitat for Humanity of Island County will have the groundbreaking ceremony of its 36th house, the 10th home on the South End, at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15.

The owners to be, Bruce and Liz Crouch, are Freeland residents who raised their children in the area.

After Bruce lost his job and became ill, the couple moved in with their daughter to save money. A house to call their own seemed unattainable until they learned about the Habitat program. Since chosen for the program, they are anxious to begin building.

For more information about the event or how to donate, visit www.islandcountyhabitat.org or contact Sadi Foltz, development director, at the Habitat office. Anyone interested in opportunities to help build, provide lunches or other volunteer opportunities may contact Melissa McSwain, program director.

Both Foltz and McSwain can be reached at Habitat for Humanity of Island County by phone at 360-679-9444.
