Reganne Brown took her oath as the new student representative for the South Whidbey School District board.

Brown, a junior at South Whidbey High School, was sworn in at a regular business meeting Wednesday evening. Brown’s mother was present to witness her daughter’s initiation.

She will be the second student representative on the board, replacing last year’s Sydney Ackerman who graduated in June.

Superintendent Jo Moccia noted that she wants Brown to feel welcome to express her input on any matters discussed at school board meetings.

Board chairwoman Linda Racicot, Policy Representative Rocco Gianni and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association representative Damian Greene, all school board directors, each congratulated Brown on her new appointment.

Brown was chosen from six candidates in May. She will serve through June, 2015.
