John Edward Hagglund
John Edward Hagglund — our beloved husband, father, son and brother — went to be with his Lord on Feb. 28, 2002.
John was born Sept. 4, 1944, in Coupeville to Levoy and Marjorie Hagglund. He graduated from Langley High School in 1962. While there, he was on the football, baseball and track teams.
After graduation, he worked at the Freeland Golf Course, rebuilding it, then for Randolph Erikson cutting willow trees for his beavers.
In 1964 he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. After his military service, he worked for Merry Tiller in Edmonds. He then went to work at Boeing and became a machinist. John worked at Boeing for 30 years and retired from there after suffering a heart attack.
Two years ago he moved to Phoenix with his wife, Trisha.
He is survived by his wife, Trisha of Phoenix; a daughter, Buffy Case, and grandson Justin Case of Fresno, Calif.; a son John “J.J.” Hagglund and wife of Fresno, Calif.; two stepsons, Mark Covey, Lauren Readshaw and wife Courtney, both of Phoenix.; his mother, Marjorie Hagglund; four brothers, Albert and wife Clara, Harold and wife Toni, Roy and friend Stephanie Marsh of Clinton, and Marion Hagglund of Mukilteo; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church on Maxwelton Road.
Karie Lee Smith Fullwood
Karie Lee Smith Fullwood, 44, died Feb. 27, 2002, in Tonasket, Wash. She was born May 20, 1957, in Seattle to Paul and Bernice Smith.
Karie moved to Whidbey Island in 1980. She was a horse trainer and housewife.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Fullwood; a daughter, Chelsey Smith; her father, Paul Smith; a sister and husband Deanna and Curtis Fournier; and a brother, Duane Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. March 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Langley. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood.
Karie will be greatly missed.
