Two people identified in a Dec. 29 murder-suicide in Everett have links to South Whidbey.

Everett police officers investigated the suspected homicide at a Euclid Avenue residence on the morning of Dec. 29. They discovered a man and a woman dead from gunshot wounds. The police have not confirmed the relationship between the two.

This week, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as 42-year-old Samantha Zeine of Everett. Her manner of death was homicide.

The man was identified as 47-year-old Jason Hadnot of Whidbey Island. His manner of death was suicide, the medical examiner’s office determined.

Social media accounts indicate that Zeine was living or had lived in Langley and that she had worked at a couple of South Whidbey businesses over the years. Her Facebook page states that she had a young son and she was originally from Cave Junction, Oregon. Her motto on the account is “living life to the fullest, love often and laugh always.”

Court records show that Hadnot had lived in Clinton, but it’s unclear if he had moved to Snohomish County.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies have a history with him going back to 1999 but that the last contact with him was 2014. He was investigated for domestic violence, an assault and traffic crimes, but no felonies. None of the crimes involved Zeine as a victim.
